Product Overview
The Wilson Blade Smart GRUUV V1 Paddle is aimed at players seeking a maneuverable, mid weight paddle with a blend of both power and control.
This "just right" power and control blend is accomplished via Wilson’s patented Smart Density core material that provides just the amount of power needed, based on the speed at which the ball impacts the paddle. A softer shot gives you more control due to the low density foam closer to the surface and a harder, faster swing results in more power as the ball reacts off of the higher density core material toward the inside of the paddle head.
The smaller head size of the Blade family of paddles allows for faster head speed through the swing, and while it requires a bit more accuracy meeting the ball, the tradeoff of a less head-heavy paddle makes it worth it for "slice and dice" fast handed players! One thing we've noticed since pickleball blew up is that our fast handed pickleball friends, or those going back and forth between the sports, appreciate this type of manuverability when playing platform tennis.

More about the Wilson Blade paddle series:
As always, Wilson’s Blade Gruuv V1 family of paddles all feature a (smaller) 80 square inch head size for more maneuverability and are all geared toward players who favor lower swing weights (less head weight) allowing faster paddle positioning and more aggressive play. GRUUV holes (those flat, slanted holes in sweet spot), optimize spin and feel by maximizing ball contact on the paddle surface and allowing the hole edges to grab the ball more effectively.
