The Viking Axe C22 for 2024 replaces the Axe Prodigy Valknut 2023.
The Viking AXE C22 is designed for a player seeking a soft, comfortable paddle that is easy to swing and offers a fairly generous sweet spot. With a low density foam core, this shock absorbing paddle reduces vibrations felt at impact and also helps with ball placement for shot-making accuracy by taking some pace off the ball as it deflects more slowly off of the soft core. The light weight helps with maneuverability and swing speed for players who favor ease of swing over more mass.
As with all of the 2024 Viking paddles, there is a new Concentric Hole Pattern with a combination of smaller and larger hole sizes to maximize feel and spin. The Dual Grit Surface features a larger particulate in the center of the paddle for de-icing where you need it most, and finer grit toward the outer paddle to ensure bite and spin from the paddle's holes.
What are the Viking Axe Paddles known for?
The three 2024 Viking Axe paddles are 87.4 square inches in size, and designed with the maneuverability of a smaller paddle with a larger sweet spot and stable feel that resembles the Re-Ignite (now Shield) series.
You can choke up on the elongated handle, or get two hands on it. Viking incorporated a carbon fiber weave around the entire throat for added shock reduction and stability making this model feel as great as it plays!
The three Viking Axe models include:
- Axe C22 (formerly Prodigy) - lightest with a low density core - easiest to swing and most control
- Axe C30 (formerly Lite) - midweight with a medium density core - blend of power and control
- Axe C40 (formerly Pro) - heaviest with a mid+, firmer density core - most power, firmest feel
Viking's CFS2 "Carbon Fiber Stability System" technology promises an optimal blend of control, power, maneuverability, and whippy feel for enhanced paddle head speed. The CFS2 softens the response at impact and stability and maneuverability coexist seamlessly. With CFS2, a Carbon fiber weave wraps the entire throat of the paddle, giving it added stability and increased shock reduction without adding any weight.
